Some of us might still be recovering from Halloween but there’s no rest for the wicked: the 2025 Christmas ad season is upon us! Here’s Giles’ thoughts on Asda’s 2025 festive offering…

Bringing back an iconic character like the Grinch is genius and they've made a playful, inclusive and genuinely funny ad that still talks to the reality of tighter budgets.

It taps into the universal (and all too relatable) feeling of mounting festive costs and then flips the narrative by highlighting Asda’s Rollback prices. Is Christmas shopping actually… fun?! At Asda, it might just be.

By turning saving into something exciting, Asda turns a long, stressful task into something worth smiling about. But while the ad gets consumers laughing and engaged, it stops short of the next step: helping them explore what those savings actually look like.

That’s where brands like Vyde could extend the moment: imagine building your own Christmas “basket” in-ad, comparing prices and exploring products featured in the ad AND being shown exactly how much you’d save at Asda.

Asda could use the Grinch to help consumers navigate products, pick out great savings and get their Christmas shop sorted. After all, great ads grab attention but the best ones guide consumers to action.
